On Top of the Arch

Work has been going well, with plenty to keep me and my colleagues occupied. Weather has been real warm this week, with temperatures going above 85 degrees F (29.4 degrees C). Fortunately, it has not been too humid.

I worked at the branch Saturday morning (3 May), then drove to Tower Grove Park in St. Louis for a potluck picnic. It was the Friends from Around the World Meetup group getting together, with some interns in town from Chicago. These interns hail from several countries, including Colombia, Ukraine, Ecuador, and Lithuania. It was nice meeting these people. After the picnic, many of us headed to downtown St. Louis. I drove four of these interns in my car. We first headed to the Gateway Arch, where we rode to the top of the 630 foot (192 m) structure. I had not been to the top of the Arch since 2005, and many in this group had never done this before. It was neat and we really enjoyed the view from the top in the approximately 10 minutes we were there.

After visiting the Arch, we drove to Ballpark Village adjacent to Busch Stadium. We had never been there, and it was nice to browse through the place. Then, I drove some of the interns to a party in their honor in Maryland Heights. I stayed there for some time before going home, and enjoyed their company.

The next morning, I was driving to Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield for its Air Show and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Expo. I saw quite a few aircraft on the static display and went through two of them, and photographed them. I also chatted with a few friends I saw there. The air display was very nice, and featured the US Navy Blue Angels. A fun time at the air show.

After work Tuesday (6 May), I drove to Mark Twain Hobby Center in St. Charles for the IPMS/St. Louis meeting. I ran the event as club president, and the four of us there talked about scale modeling related news and rumors.

I got my haircut today. Will post a photo of my in that hairdo in due course.

Later.
